In this article, we are going to learn how to easily upload files to remote server using cPanel’s file manager. Just imagine how long it takes to upload a website with tons of files and folders. Its tedious having to do them one file at a time, one folder at a time.

Do note that you can also achieve this through using File Transfer Protocol (FTP) Clients.  But the steps outlined below shows how you can use cPanel’s File Manager to upload your files in one Go:

Step 1:

ZIP your Website Folder

To upload the website, we will need to first archive the folder as it is not possible to upload a folder. Make sure you have an archiving software install on your local machine, WinZip or WInRAR will do.

Locate the folder containing your website files and folders. Right-click the folder and select Add to Archive (I am using WinRAR).

In the dialogue box that opens, make sure you select ZIP as the archive format and click on OK. Depending on the size of your folder, it should complete the task in a matter of few seconds if you have below 50MB.

Next is to get rid of the zip file by deleting it as we no longer need it again. After that is done, we now have to move all the files in the website folder to the root of the server as that is the only way they will be accessible.

Double-click on the extracted folder to see its content. Select all the contents in the folder, right-click and select move.

From the move dialogue box, Delete the last line of folder, to point to the root folder and click on Move File(s).
